Meeting
Number 2
February 16, 2007
Alyssa Denen
Secretary
9:30-11:30 AM
Hillside Chapel
Meeting was called to order by President
Sarah Clay. Pledges were then said, and cloverbuds were dismissed.
Officers Reports:
The Vice President, Sarah Theimer,
reported on our displays for 4-H week. Friendly’s has decided that they
don’t want a poster, so we can no longer display one there. However, Grandpa’s
Café has no problem with us painting their windows. Sarah T. also encouraged
everyone to sign up for demonstrations, snacks, & drinks for our 4-H meetings, and also sign up to work at the Pancake
Breakfast on Friday.
Next the secretary minutes were
read. The only correction was our previous information which stated that the
gym was being used from 10:00 – 11:00 was incorrect. The correct information
is the gym will be occupied from 10:00 – 11:30.
Next treasurer, Sarah Denen gave
her report. She gave a review of 2006 transactions, because we will most likely
spend close to the same amount again this year. We are starting with $334.53
this year.
Old Business:
We will not be doing the cooking
booth for the Taste of 4-H as previously discussed. However, everyone is still
encouraged to attend the Pancake Breakfast and the Taste of 4-H. By attending
this, it will give you a chance to look at the booths of different projects available, to help your decision in which projects
to take.
Next we discussed painting the windows
at Grandpa’s Café. Luke Seger moved that we paint the windows on March
2 at 2:00. Phoebe Theimer seconded the motion.
Throughout discussion 2:00 was decided would be best. Next we voted. Motion passed 20-0. A committee will
be organized to come up with the design which will go on the windows. Committee
will be made up of Victoria and Jonny Eustace, Rebekah, Rachel, and Luke Seger, and Taylor Bryan with VP Sarah Theimer in
charge.
New Business:
We voted officers for the remaining
positions. The following people were elected:
Recreation Officer – Taylor
Bryan
Sergeant of Arms – Stevie
Melhorn and Brian Baird
Energy Officer – Jonny Eustace
Devotional Officer – Tiffany
Denen
Historian – Rachel Seger
New Reporter – Rebekah Seger
Health Officer – Victoria
Eustace
Safety Officer – Luke Seger.
It was decided that the Health and
Safety officers will work together and switch off giving reports for the meetings.
Because no one ran for Etiquette
Officer then we will open it up again next meeting.
Advisors Report:
The club was
again reminded of the Pancake Breakfast and Taste for 4-H on February 24. Workers
are needed to help serve at the Pancake Breakfast which is from 8:00 until 11:00. Please
sign up if you can help. The Taste of 4-H is from 10:00 until noon and there
will be many fun activities. Several examples which Mrs. Dutenhaever gave were:
shooting sports, a petting zoo, and many others. Please plan to attend.
For this meeting we had the binders
with all the project books in them. Everyone was encouraged to look through and
try to decide which project you think you’ll like to take.
Anyone interested in a 4-H trip,
the application is due on March 15. For this you need to have a complete listing
of all 4-H projects you have taken. This led to the subject that regardless if
you’re going on 4-H trips or not, it is a good idea to keep track of all your 4-H records.
Since the gym is taken from
10:00-11:30 then we are scheduled to have it form 9:30 until 10:00 which would be at the beginning of the meeting. We therefore have several options about whether we want to use this time or do something small in the room
we’re meeting in after the meetings. The advisors will discuss this amongst
themselves and decide. Regardless, in the spring we can do our activity outside.
Next we discussed the Science of
Flight which our club will be doing throughout the 4-H year. Basically, we will
go over the basics of airplanes – specifically how they fly. This will
start next meeting. There will be slides as well as fun activities which will
go over the dynamics of flight.
Finally, our club made Honor Club
again for 2006! Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen!
Next Meeting:
Since we will be painting the windows
next meeting at 2:00, then we discussed if we wanted to move the meeting time up to 11:30-1:30, then afterwards go paint windows
at Grandpa’s Café. Rebekah Seger moved that this be done. Sarah Denen seconded the motion. Discussion then took place. At first it was thought that everyone should bring money for lunch. Then one of the advisors suggested that the club pay $2.00 per person toward a meal at Grandpa’s
Café. It was thought it would be good to eat there and give them some business
since they are allowing us to paint their windows. Jonny Eustace moved that the
club spend $2.00 per person to eat at Grandpa’s Café. Luke Seger seconded
the motion. Throughout discussion, an amendment was made to the motion. It was instead decided that the club will plan on spending $100.00 for eating at Grandpa’s
Café, and we will divide that amount by the number of people who show up. Mrs.
Baird is going to find a menu for Grandpa’s Café and let everyone know what it is for meal planning purposes. Rebekah Seger moved that we make an amendment to the previous motion, and that our club spend $100.00 total
for eating at Grandpa’s Café, and this amount will be divided by the number of people attending. Luke Seger seconded the motion. Since there was no more discussion,
then we voted. Motion passed 16-0. We
will talk to Grandpa’s Café and see how long they want the painting up. After
we find this out we will discuss when we will meet to take it down.
Joe Petty motioned that we adjourn
the meeting. Sarah Denen seconded. Motion
was unanimously passed.
We then played a short game which
helped everyone to get to know each other a little bit better.
